Black Friday

Students always ask how a math problem would be applicable in the real world. Just imagine shopping on Black Friday without realizing which store & which deal would be the best to stand in line and fight neighboring customers for the right to purchase merchandise. Really? Would you spend hours on end for a 2% discount? a 20% discount? The simple savings of dollars should be a motivation for understanding the percentage of cost savings. How else would you determine if a particular price is a bargain? Math is an important part of each and every day, even on Black Friday!
